The Garden City Police Department is now accepting applications for the “Are
You OK?” program.
“Are You OK?” is a telephone reassurance service offered for
free to elderly, homebound or physically disabled Garden City residents.
Participants in the program are called each day at a pre-selected time
to check on their welfare. The program is computer-controlled and monitored
constantly by the Garden City Police Department.
The system requires a coded “OK” response from the call recipient.
When a subscriber answers the phone, the system accepts the call
and moves on to the next subscriber. Improper responses, or no response,
will initiate an alarm on the system and can generate notifications for
up to four phone numbers and two pagers. These pre-determined numbers
can be for family members, neighbors and department members. Calling schedules
can vary from day to day and time to time, depending on the needs of the
recipient. Applicants are required to have a working telephone.
Anyone who is interested in subscribing to this service must fill
out the information listed on the form (click here) and you will
be contacted. You may drop this off at Garden City Police Department
located at 100 Main St., Garden City, Georgia 31408.

This program involves a coalition of law enforcement, business owners, apartment
owners and managers, and apartment residents committed to providing a safer
living environment for those living in apartment complexes. The program
has proven to be extremely effective in reducing calls for police service
at residences involved in the program. As participating complexes become
more peaceful and safer places to live and raise children, increased occupancy
rates make participation in the CFMH Program a sound business decision.
The benefits of joining the program include improved personal safety for
tenants, landlords and managers; a more stable and satisfied tenant base;
lower maintenance/repair costs; and increased demand for rental units. Free
classroom instruction is provided for both the manager and owner. Topics
include the eviction process, establishing a consistent and fair screening
process; learning your rights responsibilities as an owner/manager; reestablishing
control of your rental property; and improving your working relationship
with law enforcement. Participants learn the minimum standard for securing
the safety of their complex at very little expense. The final phase of the
program requires owners/managers to host a tenant's meeting with the majority
of their residents. Rights Center , property managers and legal attorneys.
