The
Administrative Division provides oversight of daily operations
of the Department including records management and municipal
court administration. Responsibilities include the processing
of traffic citations, incident reports, and other documents
prepared by staff.
The
Records Unit is charged with the processing of all Incident
Reports and Accident Reports received by the City. Citizens
requiring copies of reports may contact the Records Unit
at (912) 966-7770 or by fax (912) 966-7785. There is a charge
of $0.25 cents per page for copies of reports. The Records
Unit is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
The
Detective Division is responsible for the investigation of
all crimes committed against individuals and/or property. Their
function includes intelligence gathering and sharing of data
with other law enforcement agencies, surveillance of criminal
activity, oversight of all pawn transactions in the City, and the support of
Patrol Division operations.
The
Forensics Unit collects, processes, and manages all evidence associated
with crime scenes, and is responsible for the administration of all seized
property. The Unit is also charged with maintaining photograph and fingerprint
records of all individuals charged with a crime by the Department.
The
Patrol Division is comprised of four street patrol units charged with
the enforcement of all applicable local, State, and federal laws. Staff
assigned to patrol work twelve hour rotating shifts, providing public
safety service seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition,
the Patrol Division operates a street traffic unit, charged with the
enforcement of laws regarding the operation of motor vehicles, and a
Tactical Unit for high-risk entry and enforcement operations.
